Last week was a typical school week with much learning to be had. I only got 1 point wrong on my Spanish exam so I'm pretty stoked about that. Took some time Wednesday to relax at the pool with friends. Not only is the view of the valley AMAZING but they also have some water slides that lead to a natural spring-fed pool at the bottom of the hill. The water is wonderfully clean, and feels great on a 90 degree day! On Friday there was some excitement, there was a grass fire near our school campus and we ended up evacuating at 10 am. The school wasn't touched, and we were all safe but it was pretty scary.
I left for the beach around noon on Friday with 6 other students. We chose Puerto Viejo this weekend, staying at Walaba Hostel and Beach Houses in Punta Uva. Checked out the beach (gorgeous), had dinner, and ended up meeting some people and spending the evening at The Lazy Mon, where there was great music, dancing, and a fun time. Puerto Viejo has a very Jamaican/hippie atmosphere that we enjoyed immensely. Saturday was a lazy day of breakfast, time on the beach, shopping in town, and cooking supper at the hostel. We ended up staying in for an unplanned "house party," with a few of us staying up at the beach all night and witnessing a breathtaking sunrise. Sunday was more beach time and walking around town. It was a great weekend and I look forward to returning again one weekend.
We have our midterm on Thursday, which puts us close to halfway through the semester! I knew that time would go quickly here but I can't help but be surprised when it actually happens. My sister Katrina and friend SkyeAnn bought their plane tickets this weekend, they'll visit me here once I'm done school. I look forward to showing them my favorite places.
Sending to all of you much warmth, love, and a raucous hello from the howler monkeys!
Peace ♥
